BLU 2008 Annual Sunset Surf Classic Many thanks to all those who turned out for the annual Brithish Longboard Union, Sunset Surf Classic this past weekend. The event comprises a key part of the BLU competition calendar, with valuable ranking points available to the competitors across the entire field, not to mention the beautiful hand crafted wooden trophies on offer! This years event was a huge success, with a strong field across all age ranges. Not wishing to curse it for next year, but the weather was excellent, waves perfect and standard of surfing as high and progressive as we've seen! With the prize giving completed, it was over to local St Agnes band who entertained everyone out on the front deck, with the sun setting over St Ives Bay in the background. A perfect end to an excellent day! Roll on next year!
Thanks to Vic Danks from the BLU for the below report & results... "The third round of the 2008 series was held the weekend of 13th 14th September 2008 at Gwithian. Thanks to the Sunset Surf Cafe for sponsoring the event. The surf in the morning was a good 3-4 ft with it settling out at 2-3 ft. Main events were held in front of the Sunset Surf Cafe with the finals shifted over to the main beach when the surf started to clean up and lift slightly, bringing some great displays from the finalists. With the sun out, light winds and good waves, the continuation of the Masters postponed Watergate event was completed and all the rounds of the main events completed in one day.
